Notice Assignment Saturday, 26 December 2009 ASSIGNMENT ON NOTICES Do your own research on finding what defines a notice and the common layout of a notice by any means necessary. E.g. Dictionaries, Internet. Your main task is to create a notice for each of the following situations. Choose THREE. Delivery: Each should be done on a fresh piece of A4 paper. Once all three notices done attached with a cover page with your full name, group name, and then type the situations you’ve chosen on top of each notices. Your notices will be assessed on the following: 1. Language – appropriateness (Correct use of words), clarity, simplicity and brevity (include only necessary information), grammar. 2. Relevance 3. Effectiveness 4. Creativity/originality -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Situation 1: Welders in a plumbing workshop need to wear eye protection at all times when they are welding. Failure to do so could cause serious eye damage. Situation 2: The cleaning lady has just mopped all the tiles in the toilet and they are still wet and very slippery. Situation 3: You are a shop owner and your front door has been stuck for days, no one can get in. Customers have to be directed to the back door entrance. Situation 4: Create your own notice that you think would be appropriate somewhere in the college. Situation 5: You are a government officer working at the visa section of immigration. Before any papers can be processed for your ‘customers’ you must see their IC, passport and Birth Certificate. Many people wait in line for a very long time to see you and most of them do not have all these documents with them. There is no notice telling them which documents are required for visa processing. You decide that a notice must be posted alerting them to which documents are required because so many people wait in the queue and then have to go home to get these documents. |
